KUNDALINI YOGA WITH NELIA

I started my Yoga journey 20 years ago with Iyengar Yoga with June Cooper. Over the years I have practiced many forms of yoga. In 2006 my husband gifted me with the incredible Yoga Shala of Turtle Cove which offered me the opportunity to further expand my passion for yoga. I did my Kundalini Yoga Teacher's Training with Pritam Hari Kaur and Har Bhajan of 3H0 and in 2015 I qualified as a Kundalini Yoga Teacher as taught by Yoga Bhajan.

I am a trained reflexologist and qualified Reiki practitioner and have been engaged in various forms of transformation for decades. I regularly facilitate Woman's Circles, Womb Awakening Ceremonies and Fire Ceremonies and I teach Yoga, Mindfulness and Breath Awareness weekly at our local school, Kingfisher Lake International Children's College.

In Kundalini Yoga I found a technology which not only keeps my body strong, flexible and healthy, but it deeply nourishes my soul and heart. It brings me immense joy to share the gifts of Kundalini Yoga to students who are eager to transform and explore all aspects of their being.

What is Kundalini Yoga about:

Kundalini Yoga classes are generally one and half hours long and incorporate chanting, breathwork, yoga posture, mudra (hand positions), bhandas (body locks that pressure the internal core structure of the body), eye focus and visualisation. Kundalini Yoga is known as a parent yoga due to the inclusion of many different types of practices that form part of other systems of yoga.

A central feature of Kundalini Yoga is the use of the NAAD, or the sound current that is contained within the mantras that are used. This primal sound current is used to open up energy channels in the mind and body that relate to Infinite emery, or the Infinite Self. Kundalini Yoga recognises that the Self is plural, in that we are all connected at an energetic level and the classes are designed to maximise this experience.

Each class begins with a tuning-in mantra, and includes some warm-up exercises to prepare the body for the kriya. A Kriya is a series of exercises designed to move the individual through a process that begins at a starting point and ends at a desired outcome. The kriya may focus on releasing fear, or releasing stress from the adrenal glands, or opening the heart chakra; whatsoever the focus of the kriya, the flow of energy throughout the series of exercises take the individual through experiences which enable and end result, or as close to that as the person is capable of at that point in time. At the end of the kriya the class will include a deep relaxation period, as essential to the process of change and transformation as the kriya, which will allow the body to integrate the changes in energy that have occurred. At the end of the class there is a meditation that will enhance the effects of the kriya before the class tunes out with the final closing mantra.

Kundalini Yoga classes are for all levels of student and each person engages from their unique entry point. Classes are for healthy people who are able to function relatively normally physically, mentally and emotionally.
